Emberfall Saga

Emberfall Saga is the kind of RPG I expected to bounce off and ended up sinking a weekend into. You build a party of four, each with their own skill trees, and the turn-based combat rewards you for reading enemy patterns rather than mashing attack. The writing is better than it needs to be — a few side quests genuinely surprised me.

The interface is the real win here. Menus that could have been a mess on a small screen are laid out so you can manage gear and skills with one thumb. Combat has an auto option for grinding, but the manual fights are where it shines. Be warned: this is a battery-hungry game, especially during animated boss sequences, so keep a charger nearby for long sessions.

If you want something with actual stakes and hours of content, this is an easy recommendation. Just go into the settings first and cap the frame rate if your phone runs hot.
